Additional information: Hospice Northwest is a "Hospice without walls", and as such, our Hospice Northwest Palliative Care can be delivered in all care settings, including the following: individual homes, hospices, Long-Term Care Homes, hospitals. All Hospice Northwest programs and services are available free of charge. Hospice Northwest serves the City and District of Thunder Bay with support in the communities of Geraldton/Longlac, Terrace Bay/Schreiber, Marathon, Manitouwadge and Nipigon. Services Offered Palliative Support: The Palliative Care Program focuses on improving the quality of life for patients living with, or dying from, advanced illness. Hospice Palliative Care does not hasten death or extend life, but it does assist individuals in remaining comfortable and dignified until the end of their lives. Grief Support: Free of charge grief and bereavement supports including compassionate one-to-one peer support, as well as grief support groups led by trained facilitators, typically a social worker or therapist in the community. Individual counselling is not available, but clients can be connected with Counselling Resources in the community. Caregiver Support: Providing care to a person who is ill can be both very rewarding and very difficult. Whether you are a hospice volunteer or a family member/friend providing support to a loved one, we are dedicated to providing assistance to you as you care for others.
