We provide primary and revision joint replacements, complex foot and ankle surgical care, and minimally invasive reconstructive surgery to patients from across Ontario, including elite athletes and patients in under-serviced northern regions. An integral part of the Schroeder Arthritis Institute, the Division consists of 13 surgeons providing care for Ontarians with complex musculoskeletal disorders, with a specific focus on arthritis. We treat more than 4,200 inpatients and 35,000 outpatients annually and the Division has the largest volume of complex joint replacement surgeries in the Greater Toronto Area. Utilizing the most current technology and robotics, we specialize in handling complex cases. Our team of surgeons works with nurses, physiotherapist practitioners and other health care workers in the pre-operative, operative and post-operative stages, ensuring patients receive seamless integrated care to assist them in transitioning from the hospital to a safe recovery at home. With a person-centred approach our goal is to return patients to their everyday activities as soon as possible. We provide central intake clinics for several joint areas to expedite access for our patients. These are collaborative, interdisciplinary clinics that offer comprehensive assessment, individualized patient education, surgical and non-surgical intervention planning.
