Additional information: The G&M Hospital's Diagnostic Imaging Department provides diagnostic imaging services to inpatients, outpatients and emergency patients. - X-rays - Fluoroscopy Imaging: Allows viewing live movement in an x-ray. Examples include following barium through the stomach and bowels or guiding injections into joints. - Ultrasound: Uses sound waves to view internal organs. Examples include liver, bladder, neck arteries, leg veins, abdominal cavities, pregnancy imaging (determining baby size and to establish baby due dates) and diagnosis of abdominal aortic aneurysms. - Mammography: a screening tool to examine breasts for early detection. - Bone Densitometry: a screening tool to assess bone density and osteoporosis risk. - Computerized Tomography (CT): uses multiple radiation beams to create cross sectional images. The images help provide diagnostic assessments for a variety of conditions and diseases. - Nuclear Medicine Imaging: involves an injection of radioisotopes, allowing radiologists and technologists to examine bones for fractures, possible secondary sites for cancers, heart images, and any internal organs for diagnostic purposes.
