Dose schedules involving this product
These are Canadian Immunization Guide schedules associated with this DIN. The right schedule depends on age, health, prior doses and reason for vaccination.
| Schedule | Doses | Who it applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Tdap — adolescent booster at 14 to 16 years One Tdap dose at 14 to 16 years as the first 10-year booster. | 1 dose | Tdap vaccine should be administered to adolescents at 14 to 16 years of age as the first 10-year booster dose after the childhood series. |
| Tdap — adult booster, one dose One Tdap dose in adulthood, then Td or Tdap every 10 years. | 1 dose | Every adult should receive one Tdap dose if not previously immunized against pertussis as an adult, then Td (or Tdap) every 10 years. Also given to adults who will be in close contact with infants. Children 7 to 13 who missed the childhood series follow a catch-up schedule. |
| Tdap in pregnancy — one dose every pregnancy One Tdap dose in every pregnancy, ideally between 27 and 32 weeks. | 1 dose | Recommended in every pregnancy regardless of previous Tdap, ideally at 27 to 32 weeks of gestation to protect the newborn. Immunization between 13 and 26 weeks may be considered when preterm delivery or travel is anticipated. |
| Td / Tdap — primary series for people 7 and older never immunized Three doses at 0, 1 to 2 months and 6 to 12 months; Tdap for the first dose. | 3 doses | For people 7 years and older with no or unknown tetanus/diphtheria immunization. Dose 1 is Tdap, then Td at 1 to 2 months and 6 to 12 months (minimum 4 weeks between doses 1 and 2, 6 months between doses 2 and 3). Polio vaccine is added if that series is also incomplete. |
