About this medication
- Zaditor is eye drops that relieve itchy, red, watery, or swollen eyes caused by seasonal allergies.
- It works quickly and can keep working for many hours after each dose.
Relieves itchy eyes caused by allergic conjunctivitis.
How to use it
- Use this medicine exactly as your healthcare professional tells you. How often you use it will be on your product label.
- Wash your hands before using the drops.
- Remove the cap without touching the tip of the bottle, and avoid letting the tip touch your eye, eyelid, or any other surface.
- Gently pull down your lower eyelid and place one drop in the pocket that forms.
- Close your eye and gently press on the inner corner of your eye, near your nose, for 1 to 2 minutes. This helps keep the medicine in your eye instead of draining away.
- Close the bottle tightly after each use.
- If you use other eye drops or ointments, use Zaditor at least 5 minutes apart from them, and put any ointment in last.
If you miss a dose
- If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember.
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule.
- Do not use extra drops to make up for a missed dose.
Use the labelled dose for the exact concentration. Wash hands and avoid touching the dropper tip.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- There is limited information about using Zaditor during pregnancy. Talk to your healthcare professional if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
- It is not known if Zaditor passes into breast milk. Talk to your healthcare professional before using it while breastfeeding.
Discuss pregnancy or breastfeeding before use.
Before you use it
- Tell your healthcare professional if you are allergic to ketotifen or any ingredient in Zaditor.
- Tell your healthcare professional if you wear soft contact lenses.
- Tell your healthcare professional if you have dry eyes or any problems with the clear front surface of your eye, called the cornea.
- Tell your healthcare professional if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
Important warnings
- Zaditor contains a preservative that can be absorbed by soft contact lenses and change their colour. Take your contact lenses out before using Zaditor, and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in.
- This preservative can also irritate your eyes further if you have dry eyes or a problem with your cornea. Tell your healthcare professional if you feel unusual stinging or pain after using Zaditor.
- If your eye symptoms get worse, or you develop new pain, redness, or discharge, stop using Zaditor and contact your healthcare professional, since this could be a sign of a different eye problem.
Not a treatment for bacterial infection. Follow contact-lens and age instructions; avoid ingredient allergy.

Other medicines and products
- Because Zaditor is used in the eye and very little of it reaches the rest of your body, it is not expected to interact with food or most other medicines.
- Tell your healthcare professional about all medicines you take, especially other sedatives or antihistamines, or if you drink alcohol regularly, since there is a small chance these could add to any drowsiness.
- If you use other eye drops or ointments, space them apart from Zaditor as described above.
Separate other eye medicines as directed by the clinician.
Missed doses, storage and accidental exposure
- Store Zaditor between 4°C and 25°C.
- Throw away the bottle 4 weeks after you first open it, even if there is medicine left.
- Do not use the drops if the liquid looks cloudy or has particles in it.
- Do not share your bottle with anyone else, to avoid spreading eye infections.
- Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Follow your own product’s missed-dose instructions. If you are unsure, ask the Care365 clinical team before taking an extra dose. Contraceptives, injections and modified-release medicines may need a specific plan.
Keep the original packaging and follow its storage, expiry and disposal instructions. Keep medicines away from children and pets. Ask about refrigeration, after-opening limits and safe sharps disposal when relevant.
For suspected overdose or accidental swallowing, contact poison control or urgent medical care promptly. Call emergency services for breathing difficulty, collapse or a seizure.
